Acquisition in (professional / public) libraries

The bachelor's thesis focused on analysis and description of acquisition work in five followed libraries specialised on art. The theoretical part of the thesis describes profiling of collection, acquisition process, financial option of the acquisition, different methods of acquisition (purchase, gift, exchange, legal deposit and other resources). It also deals with e- resources, types of special document which are typical for the professional libraries and methods of evaluating effectiveness of acquisition. The practical part monitors in each library fund profile, the acquisition process, budget and different methods of acquisition. It also deals with e-resources, types of special document which are typical for the professional libraries and methods of evaluating effectiveness of acquisition. Each chapter about the library is followed by a short summary. In conclusion of the practical part the libraries are compered to each other and it is compared with the theoretical part at the end of the whole thesis.

The fund profile of selected library in the view of representation of topic of the new religions, sects and magic.

Thesis describes a basic analysis of the acquisition, processing, access to and use of titles in the topics of new religions, sects and magic in the Municipal Library in Prague. The work is based on theoretical definition of topics of new religions, sects and magic, and their division into sub-topics. A separate chapter is devoted to theoretical description of the decomposition of the library system. In the practical part is an analysis of 30 selected publications representing these topics. This part is based on the method of structured interviews with employees of the selected library, observation and data processing of computerized library information system (bibliographic records, anonymized logs borrowing). Special libraries in the 21st century - the entity-relationship model and the model of system library services

The dissertation is devoted to the analysis of the environment and the future prospects of special libraries. Knowledge has been achieved by direct observation, conceptual modeling and content analysis of scientific documents. Universum of special library can be expressed as an entity- relational model. Document services, which are based on the theoretical framework of information management, are proving to be the most important service in special libraries. Management of special libraries is based on knowledge of the information needs of the user community and the methodology of library processes. Library services are interconnected and the system can be expressed in the form of mind maps. Processes and services of special libraries can provide data for information-science research.
